Carpets provide many different things for a building. For one, the flooring is the foundation of your building. This means that it is going to get a large amount of use from being walked on everyday. On top of this, it is also one of the largest patterns that exist in a room. Getting an aesthetically pleasing carpet that ties a room together is imperative when it comes to a building’s appeal. A great carpet also provides comfort, not only should a carpet feel pleasing to walk on but it should also provide warmth for a person as well. With that being said let’s find out what the warmest carpet for colder climates is.

Wool Carpet

If you live in a colder climate or are just having trouble getting through those chilly winter nights then getting a wool carpet is the way to go. Because of the thick fibers that exist within a wool carpet it does a better job of trapping heat than other options on the market. This means that it will work as an insulator that keeps the heat in the building and the cold outside. These benefits are why so many clothes are made out of the material.

Because of the insulation that wool provides, you’ll also save money with energy bills. Less cold air coming in means that your ventilation system won’t have to work as hard. It’s no secret that wool is one of the more expensive carpets that you can purchase, however; you’re going to get what you pay for with this material. The comfort, insulation, and money it saves you makes it a perfect choice for colder climates.

Polypropylene Carpeting

Despite all of the benefits that come with investing in wool carpet, it’s not a realistic choice for everyone. Purchasing flooring that is expensive isn’t always on the table, if that’s the case then consider polypropylene flooring. Unlike wool, polypropylene is a man made fiber meaning that it’s in higher supply and comes a lot cheaper. It also provides a lot of the same benefits that wool carpeting includes. It’s durable and easy to maintain meaning that you won’t have to worry about constantly replacing your flooring. While not as soft as wool, it is by no means uncomfortable to walk on. It also provides some of the insulation that wool provides. Overall, if you’re working on a budget then polypropylene has got you covered.

Warm Underlay

Did you know that there exists an underlay that separates a carpet and the baseboards? This underlay plays an integral role in how the carpet feels and operates. Because of this, it’s a good idea to choose an underlay that’s going to help rather than hinder the warmth that a carpet provides. Thankfully there exists underlays that are designed for just this very purpose. Adding a warm underlay to either wool or polypropylene carpet is going to give it that little boost it needs to keep your home feeling toasty. Think of it like another layer of insulation for the floor!
